Life noun /lif/ - the experience of being alive.
To inhale and exhale is favor; a simple fact often taken for granted.
Every 40 seconds, someone in the world commits suicide. A depressing fact to swallow.
Just like any illness, suicide doesn't discriminate. Some suffer loudly and others silently, but regardless of volume, suicide is alive and well.
The other tough fact is that suicide's greatest allies are the everyday citizens of this world.
Here's how.
Words... action....inaction.... are all masterminds behind the inception of suicidal thoughts. You never know how close a person is to quitting, so... if you don't have anything nice to say, keep it to yourself.
A Quick Story
Rising songstress, Kehlani, is an R&B genius who continues to produce non stop hits. Although her career has provided much success, the grammy nominated singer attempted to take her life.
Like any celebrity private affair gone wrong, the news of destruction behind closed doors garnered huge back-lash. With Kehlani's personal life exposed, harassment and mockery followed. She became a worldwide trending topic in a matter of hours. Due to the controversy, Kehlani attempted to commit suicide..... but God had different plans.
Choose Life, Not Death
In Deuteronomy Chapter 30: Verse 15 and 19, God makes it plain and simple. God says, "Today I'm giving you a choice. You can have life and success. Or you can have death and harm." God continues, "But I want you to choose life." How gracious is God to give us a choice!
You see.... we all have a specific race to run. Each course is different with varying distances and obstacles. But regardless of difficulty, it is God's desire that we finish the race. The act of giving humans a choice to either quit or continue to run, is simply God's way of developing trust. Although Kehlani desired to leave her race, God's mercy saved her, instantly placing her back on the track & field of life.
If this type of pain sounds familiar, it's time to stand up and defeat death. You can combat thoughts of suicide, by simply acknowledging your suffering and then seeking help. But don't think of "help" as a subservient act. Most of us let the world brain wash into believing that assistance is for "crazy people", but saving your life is far from crazy. Put God first and with HIM by your side, your journey to self love will automatically begin.
God is a Stranger to Me
It doesn't matter if you haven't spoken to God in years, barely attend church or simply just don't believe in him. God loves and protects every single person on this earth. He created you, so as your father, he automatically loves you! His arms are always open. Nothing you have done in the past, will dictate God's love for you. He knows your innermost thoughts. Nothing is a secret or too shameful. Should you decide to turn your life over to Christ, IN HIM you will find salvation.
Embracing Life
Falling in love with yourself and forgiving those who have caused you pain will lay the foundation to a better you. This process will not be easy, but worthwhile. The reward of your transformation will completely change your life.
Whose Team Have You Joined?
Are you team suicide? OR Are you team YOU?
If you are a bully in any capacity, you've chosen to join in on the degradation of countless minds. Karma is not a fallacy and whatever you give you will receive.
If you are ready to be your biggest cheerleader, the time is now to change your life. Seek guidance through counseling from a church and/or licensed professional. There is no shame in self preservation.
Life is a Gift
The next time you rise, remember that to inhale and exhale is favor. Another day means another chance to get it right.
Don't quit on yourself.
