To the year of chaos,
You’ve tested us all. The journey was incomplete, inconsistent, vile, and at times unforgiving.
We said goodbye to family alone, suffered in our selves, lost our foundation and felt damaged by the worlds response to said suffering.
Together, our lives upended, unfamiliar routines were formed and families shifted. Each month was more exhaustive than the next. Those tasked with leadership failed and stumbled loudly, and yet somehow used their view to smile upon our faces as we continued to cry out in pain.
2020, you were a house on fire.
The fire spread to homes around the world hitting some harder than others. And just when we thought sickness would be the pinnacle, we uncovered a historical truth and exposed its darkness. So, we marched, sang, and cried. We fought, screamed, and reached our own boiling point.
The fire turned into a natural disaster.
We lived in prison, but soon realized the familiarity of Joshua’s cell. Out of an unjustly prison sentence, we would rise as Kings and Queens. We became the change. We rose unrecognizable to those who betrayed us.
We fought the fire and won.
2020 despite your tyranny, we loved, gave birth, protected our families, succeeded and turned the world on its head. Generosity followed us, hope encouraged us, and God guided us.
So here we are in the new year; happy you’re gone and wiser than the year before.
Although the suffering was great, the victory is ours.
